What are Kaleidoscope’s guiding beliefs?

We have the answers within us and within our organizational teams. Transformational coaching is about asking the questions that support ourselves and our organizations in finding the ways of working through the limitations that we impose on ourselves and our organizations.

Subtle shifts can generate powerful possibilities. We can shift, slightly, in how we observe a situation and a new door is suddenly there, waiting to be opened.

Motivation is a key to effective leadership, effective teaching, and effective relationships. Understanding the physiology of emotions and the body can directly influence motivation… to come from within.

The latest brain/body research shows that we learn best through the coherence of body, emotion, and language.

Our ways of being in our body affects who we are, what emotions we experience, and what language we think and say. Working with all three components of ourselves transforms how we connect with ourselves and those around us.

We can only change ourselves… but changing ourselves affects those around us.

We are living in one of four general moods: acceptance, possibility, resentment or resignation and we have a choice.

We can learn to ground our assessments or judgments so that we know the difference between what we thought were the facts and what are the facts in any situation or with any person.

Because language is generative, we can initiate actions we desire in ourselves and others through our thoughts and language.

Distinguishing types of conversations facilitates more effective communication.

Learning to make distinctions among “speech acts” is a powerful tool for improved communication.

Understanding that we are either nurturing trust or breaking trust is essential for leaders. We can develop skills in maintaining trust with others as well as ourselves.

We, as coaches, abide by the International Coaching Federation Code of Ethics. This includes a high respect for confidentiality and working with you only in our areas of expertise.

What is the Kaleidoscope Advantage?

Experience, experience, experience:

Carol is in her fifth decade and has had many, many opportunities to experience transformation within her personal and professional life. During her twenty years as an administrator in public education, she was immersed in “the age of accountability”. She happily ushered in the learnings around effective education which included higher expectations for all kids. Not so happily, she led her district in the implementation of the No Child Left Behind Act; increasing test scores all the while struggling to balance the ideals of educating the whole child. A portion of her thirty years as a public educator was spent teaching and being an international educational consultant in “learning how to learn”. This has added greatly to her understanding of life and how to relate to people as unique beings in this universe. She also incorporates the latest brain/body research into her coaching and consulting, especially in the emotional realm. This research led her in 2004 to the study of ontological coaching with Newfield Network. Ontology is the study of “being” and this type of transformational coaching involves the coherence of the body, emotions, and language. She is currently enrolled in the Newfield Graduate Program: Integral Pathways. Carol’s lifelong study of body movement enhances her understanding of the importance of the body in the transformation of how one chooses to lead.

Jane is also in her 5th decade and has worked for 30 years in education. She has master’s degrees in gifted education and in organizational development. As a director and now as a consultant with the Ophelia Project she shares the importance of emotions in creating safe school and organizational climates. Her experiences in working within educational organizations has enhanced her understanding of the way many educators now work within “school as a business” and with No Child Left Behind. She feels some of these ideas have wrenched the heart and soul out of teaching.  She graduated from the Newfield Network Ontological Coaching Program in 2005. She believes that ontological coaching is a way to rediscover the beauty, the passion, the magic of preparing children and their leaders to participate as productive citizens in our society.
